Killer Read

I am using A Killer Read by Erika Chase as my book for K for the Alphabet challenge.  Lizzie is a reading specialist who loves mysteries and belongs to a book club - The Ashton Corners Mystery Readers and Cheese Straws Society.  She owns (or is owned) by two cats who appear on the cover but have little to do in the book.

While the club is meeting, Frank Telford is murdered.  Molly seems to be the prime suspect.  as the gun used was her late husbands.  Several other things are missing from her home.  At the same time, Lizzie is receiving pages of a manuscript in her mailbox about a man who lost his fortune to a land developer.  Are these things related,  can Lizzie find the author and the killer in time to prevent further mayhem.  While all of this is happening, Lizzie gets to re-unite with the man she had a crush on in high school - Mark Dreyfus who is now the Police Chief.

I enjoyed the tying up of the various stories at the end.  It is interesting to follow the progression of Mark and Lizzie's relationship.  The background characters are well-developed.  The descriptions of the houses and locals are wonderful. I have started reading the second book in this series.
